22-18 gauge solder and crimp heat-shrink butt splice terminals. The most secure connection you can get from a butt splice for the harshest of environments First, crimp the terminal at each end to hold it in place. Next a heat shrink connection that also has an internal sealant glues the wires in place after heat is applied. At the same time, you'll also melt a small amount of solder at each end that makes the connection as secure as possible.
