The ZIL plant, apart from complete ZIL-130 trucks, also produced chassis without bodies, sent to specialized enterprises for various equipment installation. In 1964, the MMZ-555 dump truck was developed, using a special ZIL-130D chassis with a shortened wheelbase of 3.3 meters. The MMZ-555 was designed for transporting construction and industrial cargo, with a 4.5-ton capacity. Its 3-cubic-meter, metal, trough-like body ensured one-sided, rear-only unloading. The MMZ-555 was one of the most common and widespread dump trucks in the USSR, produced until 1987.
