Oxygen absorbers have been shown to be the ideal way to remove oxygen reliably and predictably from an air-tight container. Our OxyFree brand oxygen absorbers with next-gen OxyEye(tm) oxygen indicator packets have been proven to be more accurate than older "pill" type indicators for increased confidence that your dehydrated food will remain fresh without the harmful effects of oxidation. Simply add the dehydrated food to the food-grade mylar bag, place the appropriate number of oxygen absorber on top, and be sure to push out as much residual air as possible before sealing the bag. The volume of air in the bag should be noticeably reduced in 1-4 days. Label the mylar bag and store in a cool, dry, dark place. All mylar bags should be placed in a rigid container to protect the integrity of the bag as well as to avoid rodents and bug infestation. Unused oxygen absorbers can be resealed in their original bag, placed in a mason jar with new lid, or heat sealed in a mylar bag.
