Alphabet Man “this guy” by “R”

I have a real affinity for finding paintings lost by their artists. I had to give this painting a home. If anyone knows R or Ash, please let me know. R may still be in New York? This is a painting/collage on board, 23 x 36 x 1.75 inches, with a notation on the back to “Ash-take good care of this guy. I’ll be awaiting xx goods. I’ll see you in New York. R”. This does feel like “An affair to remember” or “Sleepless in Seattle.” I have been taking good care of this guy for close to five years, and now am ready to share this alphabet guy with you! There is rich texture atop of a black background. There are two very thin strings from head to foot, with lower case alphabet letters forming his body. I like the letters changing direction for his shorts. He looks like he is looking away from us and looking ahead (towards New York?). His hands must be crossed in front of him. I like that right ear. There are some scuffs, but overall the painting is in good condition. Take this guy home!
