This is a Tree of Life silkwork picture with silk and metallic threads on a gold moiré silk ground. It was worked in 1754 by Mary King of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The picture features a lion and a leopard beneath a large flowering tree with birds and butterflies. This is an iconic image from the Winterthur Museum's American Decorative Arts.
