BUTTERFLIES OF LOUISIANA (Wildlife of North America and other educational books.) Paperback – June 22, 2023

There are 153 butterflies in Louisiana. They come in all sizes, shapes, colors, and more. We won’t look at them all, but we will look at the brightest and most spectacular. For each butterfly species, we will begin with a large, full color picture. We will go over a description of what the butterfly looks like from above and below. If there is a difference between males and females, we will discuss what they are and how you can recognize each. We will look at their wingspan, so you know if you are looking for a small (1 inch), medium (2 inch), or large (3 inch plus) butterfly. Next will be a description of the eggs. You may find these in your yard or out in the wild. The caterpillar description is discussed, and lastly, the chrysalis. After this, we will list the larval host plants for the caterpillars.
