This is sometimes known as a crusaders Cross or a relique cross for having had enamel placed on the front or a possible piece of garment, bone or wood from across of a saint or any other high person in the church. It's been professionally cleaned and restored and a non-toxic varnish has been placed over it and it's attached to a silver chain.
