Dregano Holiday Deer Christmas Pyramid, Natural Wood Finish,

Add an old-world touch to your Christmas decor with this charming natural wood pyramid and candle holder. Four hand-carved deer graze peacefully in this woodland scene. A center post, surrounded by a curling wood column, rises up through the arched pyramid and holds the natural wood propeller blades. The scene rests on a wooden disk held up by four curved wooden arms that end in brass candle cups holding 14 mm candles (candles included). Height: 11 inches. Base: 5.5 inches by 5.5 inches The heat from the four candles rise and turn the propeller blades and the figurines. As the scene passes by, one becomes fascinated by the movement and the warmth of the candle light. Since the early 19th century the craftsmen in the Erzgebirge region of Eastern Germany have been making these pyramids for their families, so named for their distinctive shape. Originally each Christmas Pyramid was uniquely designed for the craftsmans family, but by the beginning of the 20th century they had become so popular that they were made available to a wider audience. It is thought that the original design was inspired by the turning of the wheels by the horses in the early mines. Candles are sold separately.
