Lithplane= porcelain casting which, in ambient light, seem only to be bumpy surfaces forming a vague picture. When the ambient light is extinguished and the lithophane is back-lit, a beautiful, three-dimensional picture appears in an incredible depth and detail.

A lithophane is a thin etched sheet of translucent porcelain that can be back-lit for a striking effect. The surface is intaglio or incised and shows a unique ridgid textured surface with hand-coloring. The back is open for back-lighting. This item is unframed.
