Lilly Dache Dachettes’ Black Straw and Grossgrain Modified Turban/Beret 1964

Very rare mint condition Lilly Dache Dachettes’ stylized black straw Mod style modified mix of a turban and beret with an almost military insignia grosgrain black bow in front that blends into this turban/beret in a subtle way. Label marked “Dachettes’ Designed by Lilly Dache” (the famous MidCentury Milliner to the Stars). Fits a small head. Diameter of about 7” for a comfy fit that can adjust up or down forehead and back of head, like a beret/turban. Height of hat about 3 3/4.” Inside band is of black grosgrain and a wide 2” so your head hardly touches the straw. Weave of straw is very small, lending to an elegant look. The color black will go with many different colored clothing, though it should be recognized that this hat has a formal, dignified, officious look. Very Jacqueline Kennedy in style, and it should be noted Jackie was a big fan of Lilly Dache from 1958-1964. This hat is circa 1964, though it’s hard to place in time since this hat is so rare and there are few comparables.
