- [SAFE USE] The 4.5 x 20 water filter is for drinking water applications. Do not use where water is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the water filter. Flush the filter with at least 3 gallons of water prior to usage or until black carbon residue disappears. Designed to minimize the release of carbon fines during initial flush and usage. The filter provides optimal filtration results and service life for a healthy and safe water-filtering
