The ec-135c was an evolution from the earlier KC-135A adapted to serve as an airborne command and control aircraft. The initial purpose was to maintain command and control of us air force nuclear forces in the event of a "first strike" by Soviet nuclear ICBM's which was considered a very serious threat for decades. Even after the Soviet "first strike" threat had passed, the ec-135c also served as an intelligence gathering and command and control aircraft. The new Minicraft ec-135c is made from new tooling and includes recessed panel lines, re-fueling boom, boom, boom operator position, "C" engines, pose-able landing gear and unique ec-135 communications equipment. Decals represent the ec-135c operating with the USAF in Europe.
