The German Tiger II tank, dubbed 'King Tiger' by Allied forces and 'Königstiger' by the Germans, was officially designated as the Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B. Weighing nearly 70 tons, it was one of the heaviest tanks of World War II. The Tiger II boasted exceptional armor, ranging from 3.9 to 7.3 inches at the front, which was nearly impervious to Allied guns. Its main armament was the formidable 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 anti-tank cannon, capable of engaging and destroying Allied tanks at ranges over 1.6 miles. Powered by a 690 HP engine, the Tiger II demonstrated impressive agility for its size. Early models faced mechanical issues, but improvements and crew training addressed these problems. Today, at least 10 Tiger II tanks remain, with only one still operational.
