- This ERTi-5 (Grade 5) Titanium Rod is commonly referred to as “6Al/4V” or simply “6-4” and its primary use is for TIG welding and has a composition alloy of 6% aluminum + 4% vanadium + Balance Titanium.
- Applications: Aerospace, marine, chemical plants, process plants, power generation, oil and gas extraction, medical and sports, aircraft industry components such as landing gear, wing spars, compressor blades as well as turbine engine parts. Other applications include cryogenic and petrochemical industries where higher strength welds in corrosive environments are required
- ERTi-5 exhibits an ultimate tensile strength of 130,000 psi min, good weldability and can be heat treated to higher strength or toughness. Its corrosion resistance is generally comparable to Grade 2 and it is often used in corrosion service where higher strength is required, particularly in shafts, high strength bolting, and keys.
