I suggest you read this anthology slowly, for the range of experiences run deep and wide. There are poems of childhood, the joys of becoming a woman, and there is a great deal of trauma expressed from all regions of the world. The fact is, a vast majority of young girls and grown women have experienced harassment, violence and sexual abuse and this anthology reflects that fact. Many are not believed. Women continue to fight for the freedom to live without fear and the safety of their bodies.Barbara Southard,Poet Laureate of Suffolk County 2019-2021To be female in our society (whether via biology or self-identified) can be vulnerable, disarmed, disenfranchised, or victimized. That is not to say girls and women are weak or inferior, or complicit, but we continue to find ourselves on an unlevel playing field culturally, socially, economically, and often politically. This collection brings together a community of voices that run the gamut from indignant to inspiring, painfilled to persistent. The poems in these pages reach for justice or affirmation, speak to an ugly truth about the manipulation and abuse that reigns down on women across the globe. These varied narratives are shaken and surefooted, defiant and even forgiving, but all demonstrate a determination and bravery for exposing both personal and communal atrocities that contribute to a growing literary archive of oppression and resistance.Mindy Kronenberg,LIP&LR Literature Ambassador of Long Island 2024-2026This is an essential collection for women and those who love us, and perhaps for those who do not. We are taught at a young age that to survive, we must save ourselves time and time again. May the voices that follow prove that women will always be their own saviors.Callie Jean Carbone,Poet and Women's Advocate Read more
